A cerebral metabolism activator containing at least one glucose ester derivative represented by general formula (I) as the active ingredient (wherein the anomeric substituent may be .alpha. or .beta.; and R to R4 represent each hydrogen, C2-C8 linear or branched acyl, or cyclic acyl, provided at least one of R to R4 represents acyl), useful for treating shock cerebral function disorder caused by hypoglycemia, cerebral function disorder caused by a reduced power of active transport of glucose of the cerebrovascular barrier, and particularly cerebral function disorder accompanied by senile dementia or senile motor function disorder.

L'invention concerne un activateur du métabolisme cérébral contenant, comme principe actif, au moins un dérivé d'ester de glucose représenté par la formule générale (I), dans laquelle le substituant anomère peut être .alpha. ou .beta., et R, R¿1?, R¿2?, R¿3? et R¿4? représentent chacun hydrogène, acyle C¿2?-C¿8? linéaire ou ramifié, ou bien acyle cyclique, à condition qu'un groupe parmi R, R¿1?, R¿2?, R¿3? et R¿4? représente acyle. Un tel activateur permet de traiter des chocs cérébraux dus à l'hypoglycémie, des troubles fonctionnels cérébraux dus à une capacité réduite de transfert actif du glucose de la barrière cérébro-vasculaire, et, en particulier, des troubles fonctionnels cérébraux accompagnés de démence sénile ou de troubles fonctionnels moteurs séniles.
