ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A luminescent material having an improved ratio of peak intensity to decay time and excitable by an electron beam, the material being prepared by providing a mixture of yttrium oxide, aluminum oxide, gallium oxide, cerium oxide, and all inorganic fluoride which decomposes to liberate fluorine at the sintering temperature of the mixture, and sintering the mixture to produce a material having a higher peak intensity than results from the sintering of the mixture in the absence of the fluoride. -i-
