- 12 - CERVICAL IMMOBILIZATION DEVICE ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A cervical immobilization device is intended especially for use in an aquatic environment although it is not limited to aquatic applications. The device is used in the rescue and first aid treatment of persons with suspected spinal, injuries. The immobilization device has a fabric base that is permanently fastened to a spinal board with screws. A broad band of fabric material is fastened to the base panel at the head end by a flexible webbing strap and is in turn connected at its opposite ends to the inside, head end edges of two rectangular cushion blocks. The base panel has two broad bands of "Velcro" (TM) fastened to its top surface, while each cushion has a complimentary component of the "Velcro" fastener covering its bottom face. The outside faces of the cushion blocks are likewise covered with "Velcro" fastener to engage forehead and chin straps. All of the components of the device are made from a material that, is resistant to damage from the aqueous environment in which it is intended to be used.
