CF4 LASER Abstract of the Disclosure A CF4 laser for producing near 16 µm radiation utilizing a line tunable C02 laser as an optical pumping source. The de- vice uses a cryogenically cooled optical pumping cavity contain- ing molecular CF4 gas. An optical resonant cavity formed around the optical pumping cavity induces oscillations of near 16 µm radiation from the v2 + v4 + v2 transition in the molecular CF4 gas.
