-12- "CHAIN DRIVEN SWATHER CANVAS ASSEMBLY" ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Conventionally, a swather canvas is an endless belt- type construction frictionally engaged around a pair of spaced and parallel rollers and relying on the tightness of the belt or canvas to provide sufficient frictional contact with the driven roller in order to operate. These belts vary their tension dependent upon wet or dry atmospheric conditions and general stretching of the material and have to be adjusted continuously. The present device comprises a pair of rollers having chain sprockets thereon and endless chains extending therearound. A plurality of slatted canvas or rubberized flaps are secured by the leading edges to the chains and the trailing edges overlap the leading edges of the flap immediately there- behind. Check chains or straps extend between the trailing edges of one flap and the leading edges of the flap immediate- ly behind in order to limit the movement of one flap away from the other particularly along the underside runs of the conveyor and as the flaps pass over the rollers.
