A chain guard is used on a rotary mower to prevent objects from being thrown out from under the mower. The chain guard includes adjacent strands of chain forming a curtain. The adjacent strands are linked by cross links spaced along the chains to form a chain net which is more effective at trapping up thrown objects than the unlinked chains.
