ABSTRACT Running gear or sliding apparatus characterized by a unit consisting of a hollow support forming a track and a link belt revolving in the track. The hollow support consists of a pair of bowl-shaped parts, preferably contoured in mirror symmetry, the bottoms of which are joined together directly or through spacers, indirectly, and whose inwardly directed flanges facing each other guide the link belt. The running gear, being encapsulated, is well protected against stresses of any kind, such as would arise by being located in a dirty environment and on uneven and rough ground. Because of weight distri- bution over a large area, the danger of having the gear sink into soft ground is reduced.
