A chain pad (1) for a chain link (2) of a caterpillar tread consists of a base unit (3) having a floor plate (4), and a pad unit (2) connected with the base unit (3) on an interior side of the floor plate (4). On the interior side of the floor plate (4), the base unit (3) has a number of engaging elements (5, 6) elevated over the interior side, which establish a positive connection with the pad unit (2). This makes it possible to relatively easily and stably connected the pad unit (2) with the base unit (3).
