ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A chain saw guide bar with a sprocket wheel at its free end. The wheel supports the chain saw and is rotatably journalled on a hub and surrounded by side plates, whereby at the sprocket wheel these side plates are formed by embossing of concentric zones. The embossing depth of the zones or the gap between the side plate and the sprocket wheel increases step by step and/or continuously with the radial distance from the centre of the sprocket wheel.
