ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A jig for longitudinally cutting timber with a chain saw comprising a pair of parallel rails extending longitudinally and supported on a rack. A plate between the rails supports the chain saw thereon. The plate has a slot parallel to the rails through which the blade and chain saw extend during operation The plate is secured to a wheeled carriage means which operates along the rails. A handle of the chain saw is clamped above, and the blade of the chain saw is clamped below, the plate to secure the chain saw in position during the sawing operation. Timber to be cut is secured beneath the plate parallel to the rails and is cut by moving the carriage means longitudinally along the rails, causing the chain saw to cut the timber longitudinally. The plate is laterally adjustable between the rails to permit a series of parallel longitudinal cuts to be made in the timber so that, for example, lumber of appropriate thickness may be obtained. This jig is readily constructed and taken apart and is well suited for use with a chain saw as a portable saw mill for domestic or remote operation.
