A portable support for sharpening chainsaws both in the bush and on a construction site. The invention consists of a U-shaped piece of steel flat bar with both ends of the steel flat bar being cut on a sharp angle. The U-shaped piece of steel flat bar when held with the sharp points of the angle against either a tree stump in the bush or a wooden plate on a construction site may be struck either by a hammer on a construction site or an axe in the bush to securely hold it in position. The invention has a threaded hole on one side and a non threaded hole directly opposite it on the other side. The non threaded hole will allow a screw to be inserted and fasten a movable stabilizing block in position. The stabilizing block when not in use will be in a position parallel to the uprights on the U-shaped piece of steel flat bar to allow easy storage and turned to a position parallel to the bar of the chainsaw when in use. The threaded hole will allow a threaded screw with a head suitable for hand tightening to be used. The stabilizing block when in a position parallel to the bar of the chainsaw will hold the bar in place when the hand screw on the opposite side is tightened against the chainsaw bar.
