ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention provides a chair comprising an underframe, a seat support mounted at its front on a seat support pivot and tiltable about a horizontal axis, a back rest, a back rest support tiltable at an end thereof, facing away from the back rest about a horizontal axis on a back rest pivot provided on the underframe, an accumulator engaging the back rest support and abutting against the underframe, and a connecting hinge for connecting the rear of the seat support to the back rest support, said accumulator comprising a blockable compressed gas spring which is pivotally connected to the underframe and engaging said connecting hinge.
