A B S T R A C T A chair provided with a seat (1) and suitably a back rest (4) said seat (1) having a longitudinal saddle- shaped part, the upper surface cross-section of which having approximately the shape of an inverted U, sad- dlelike members (2, 3) projecting transversely out from a mid-portion of each longitudinal side of said seat part to support the rear, upper thigh portion of the chair user, said seat as viewed from above being substantially shaped like a groin-, welsh - or underpitch vault.
