ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A change-speed apparatus in a tractor equipped with an engine has a planetary gearing mechanism settable between its two positions. Actuation of the mechanism to one of the two posi- tions is hydraulically power-actuated, while actuation to the other of the two positions is automatically effected, as the hydraulic power is released, by a spring. Power-transmitting oper- ative connection is therefore always maintained between the engine and running-drive wheels, even when the hydraulic actuation power falls to zero.
