ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The receiving end of a character-frame-governed t.d.m. data transmission system includes a multiplexer having a plurality of outputs feeding a plurality of channel units via which data signals are emitted to a plurality of data sinks. The receiving end further comprises a central stop element lengthening device which produces a timing signal for the operation of all the receiving end channel units. This device comprises three counter units the first and third of which count sampling pulses produced in the centers of signal components of the t.d.m. signal, the first producing a blocking signal in the presence of a start element. The second counter unit counts pulses of the blocking signal and the timing signal is produced when the second and third counter units have equal counts. The system involves a relatively low outlay in terms of equipment, particularly in setups involving a relatively large number of channel units and data sinks.
