ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A character/graphic information network system for supplying subscribers with meteorological and hydrological image information such as regional rainfall intensities, water levels of rivers, etc. includes an information center for collecting observed data from observation units and gen- erating image information from the collected observed data, a plurality of terminal devices, and a videotex communica- tion network for supplying the image information from the information center to the terminal devices. Any loss of the observed data is compensated for by the information center. The terminal devices can receive and reproduce image infor- mation in shortened periods of time and also can display warnings or the like on their display units in case of emergency.
