DC101 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A charging mechanism for a circuit breaker includes a pair of one way roller bearing clutches that permit incremental charging rotation of a ratchet wheel without requiring a holding pawl. The charging springs are attached by means of planar spring ends that are readily inserted between end turns of the spring and rotated into a locked position. A novel wear pad includes a surface consisting of nylon impregnated molybdenum disulphide for minimal friction contact with a rotating eccentric on an electric charging motor.
