Abstract of the Disclosure A check valve comprising a valve body with a bore and a counterbore, an insert inside the counterbore, and a flapper with a flapper pin is disclosed. The flapper pin is mounted in a recess in the inside face of the insert. A spring for biasing the flapper toward the closed position is located in a recess in the counterbore face of the valve body.
