ABSTRACT The invention relates to a method for the visual inspection of a flat electrode and, in particular, an anode, having an activating layer, which may be employed in electrolytic installations for the galvanic zincing of sheet steel. The electrode to be tested is placed between the anode and cathode of a sodium sulphate cell, with the surface to be tested facing the cathode. An appropriate voltage is applied and the development of gas bubbles which occur on the activating layer of the test-anode is recorded with a camera.
