The invention relates to a process for the chemical benef iciation of raw material containing tantalum-niobium such as wastes, scoria, concentrates and ores. The process comprises the step of decomposing the raw material with a carbonate-containing solution of ammonium fluoride in a reducing medium for no longer than 8 hours . The finally obtained mixture of tantalum and niobium oxides does not feature uranium contents which would render the mixture radioactive .
