A chemical barrier effective to irritate and repel molluses contains an active ingredient formed of fatty acid salts of monocarboxylic acids having chain lengths ranging from 8 to 14 carbon atoms, coconut fatty acid, palm kernel fatty acid, and mixtures thereof. The barrier may be in the form of a solid or a gel-like material that is able to harden to a solid. A solid barrier may also be formed by providing a solid substrate coated with the active ingredient barrier composition.

Une barrière chimique, irritant et répulsif efficaces contre les mollusques, renferme un ingrédient actif formé de sels d'acides gras moncarboxyliques, dont la chaîne comporte de 8 à 14 atomes de carbone, d'acide gras de noix de coco, d'acide gras de noix de palme ou de mélanges de ces composés. La barrière peut prendre la forme d'une matière solide ou d'un gel pouvant se transformer en solide. On peut également former une barrière solide en revêtant un substrat solide avec la composition barrière renfermant l'ingrédient actif.
