ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Chemical resistant transfer labels, of the type which are heat activated to transfer them from a substrate carrier to a package face or other final substrate by a molten wax release process and known as "heat transfers," are coated with a multi-component layer comprising at least two interspersed polymers. A first one of said polymers is a film-forming, multi-aromatic ring condensation product, preferably a saturated aromatic, acid-based polyester. A second one of said polymer components reinforces the first component and preferably also contains bulky ring structures, such as in polymerized resin esters, but may be essentially liner such as ethyl- ene-vinyl acetate copolymers. The heat transfer labels coated with the mult- i-component layer exhibit improved resistance to adverse chemicals such as alcohols, oils and detergents to protect the heat transfer, per se and/or printed matter thereon, consistent with resistance to distortion under the conditions of molten and machinery of the art, and compatibility with other layers of the heat transfer label and substrate carrier.
