ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A chemical spot test analysis medium is disclosed which is of a porous or fibrous character. The medium is pre-conditioned so as to be ready for receiving liquids which interact chemically with the medium upon being introduced thereto. The medium is pre-conditioned by an agent having hydrophobic and hydrophilic properties which retards the spreading of liquid through the medium and which enhances the capacity of the medium to hold liquid.
