ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Efficiency of chemical surface finishing baths for metal articles, particularly electrolytic baths for anodizing metals such as aluminum, magnesium or titanium is improved by incorporating into the bath an effective amount, typically from 0.1 to 50 grams per liter of the reaction product of a metal halide, such as boron trifluoride, and a trifluoro-alkaryl amine, suitably .alpha.,.alpha.,.alpha.,-trifluoro-m-toluidine.
