Chemiluminescent 1,2-dioxetanes derived from substituted aromatic esters or ketones and spiro-fused ketones with either .pi.-electron system in the ring or with carbon-carbon double bond or triple bond(s) in the spiro-fused ring are provided herein. These 1,2-dioxetanes have electron donating or withdrawing groups at the four-membered peroxide ring, thus, the 1,2- dioxetanes ring hereof is affected by the added electronic charge.

L'invention concerne des 1,2-dioxétanes chimioluminescents dérivés d'esters ou de cétones aromatiques substitués et de cétones spiro-condensées avec un système d'électrons .pi. dans le noyau ou avec des liaisons doubles ou triples carbone-carbone dans le noyau spiro-condensé. Ces 1,2-dioxétanes possèdent des groupes donnant ou retirant des électrons au noyau peroxyde à quatre chaînons et ainsi, le noyau 1,2-dioxétanes est affecté par la charge électronique ajoutée.
