ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Ozone may be detected in the upper atmosphere by the ozonesonde of the subject invention. The inventive ozone- sonde directs an ambient air flow in a continuous stream over a chemiluminescent disc, which reacts with the ozone to produce oxygen and light. The intensity of the light is detected and measured as an indicator of the ozone concen- tration. The air flow is exited from the instrument thereby allowing a maximum quantity of air to be sampled for a more accurate determination of the ozone concentration.
