ABSTRACT Cherries are transported by an array of side-by-side belts which are driven past cutters aligned with respective separating guides, each of which separates the cherries of a bunch before the bunch reaches a cutter, and locates the cherries on opposite sides of the cutter. The cutter can co- operate with an anvil to support the stalks while the stalks are separated by the cutter, usually at a node.
