The invention provides a chewing gum composition containing a water soluble bulk portion, a water insoluble chewing gum base portion, a flavoring agent, and bismuth-containing compounds. The invention provides a bismuth-containing gum which when chewed multiple times per day, over the period of two weeks, is effective in reducing peptic ulcers by eradicating H. pylori. The chewing gum is also effective in eliminating forms of halitosis. The chewing gum does not have undesirable side effects, unpleasant taste and poor chewing characteristics.

Cette invention se rapporte à une composition de chewing-gum contenant en grande partie une matière soluble dans l'eau, une base de chewing-gum insoluble dans l'eau, un aromatisant et des composés contenant du bismuth. Cette invention se rapporte à une gomme contenant du bismuth qui, lorsqu'elle est mâchée plusieurs fois par jour, sur une période de deux semaines, s'avère efficace s'agissant de réduire les ulcères gastro-intestinaux du fait qu'elle élimine H.pylori. Ce chewing-gum sert également à supprimer des formes de mauvaise haleine. Ce chewing-gum ne présente par ailleurs aucun effet secondaire indésirable, son goût n'est pas déplaisant et il possède de bonnes caractéristiques de mastication.
