A child proof electrical extension cord adapted to transmit electric power to appliances while guarding its power outlets safe from children. The child proof extension cord includes an electrical unit that comprises a casing and a cover within which multiple electric outlets are provided. The electrical unit further comprises a locking mechanism that allows to lock the cover to the casing and thereby prevent a child from accessing the outlets. More specifically, the locking mechanism includes a first finger engaging member and a second pair of opposing finger engaging members that each prevent the first finger engaging member from releasing the cover from a locked position. To effect the release of the cover from the casing and thereby expose the outlets, all three finger engaging members must be depressed simultaneously, this requires a degree of manual dexterity that is beyond that of a child's capability. La présente invention concerne une rallonge électrique à l'épreuve des enfants, conçue pour relier des appareils électriques à une source de courant tout en mettant les prises de courant hors de portée des enfants. Cette rallonge comporte un boîtier abritant plusieurs prises de courant, avec couvercle et dispositif de verrouillage empêchant des enfants d'avoir accès aux prises de courant. Le dispositif de verrrouillage est constitué d'un premier élément de retenue de crochet et d'une autre paire d'éléments de retenue de crochet opposés servant à empêcher le premier élément de retenue de libérer le crochet pour permettre l'ouverture du boîtier.
