This invention concerns an animal-human chimera monoclonal antibody whose side-effects such as anaphylaxis and serum sickness are thought to be greatly reduced when it is administered to human. The chimera monoclonal antibody is produced by a recombinant host animal cell and consists of a variable region which recognizes a melanoma cell and is homologous to the corresponding variable region in an antibody derived from an animal hybridoma (such as mouse hybridoma D10) and a constant region homologous to the corresponding region of human antibody (such as one encoded by human Cx gene or Cy1 gene). The production process of the chimera monoclonal antibody comprises inserting active chimeric Ig heavy and light chain genes into an expression vector and then introducing the vector into animal culture cells.
