The present invention provides double stranded compositions wherein the first strand comprises three different regions and the second strand is native RNA. Each region has native or modified ribofuranosyl sugar moieties that are different than those of the other two regions. At least a portion of the first oligomeric compound is complementary to and hybridizes to a nucleic acid target. The present invention also provides methods for modulating gene expression using the modified oligomeric compounds and compositions of oligomeric compounds.

L'invention concerne des compositions bicaténaires dans lesquelles le premier brin comprend trois régions différentes et le second brin est un ARN natif. Chaque région possède des fractions de sucre de ribofuranosyle natif ou modifié qui diffèrent de celles des deux autres régions. Au moins une partie du premier composé oligomère est complémentaire d'une cible d'acide nucléique et hybride celle-ci. L'invention concerne également des procédés permettant de moduler l'expression génique au moyen des composés oligomères modifiés et des compositions de composés oligomères.
