The disclosed invention relates to chimeric genes which contain a first segment encoding a single chain Fv domain of a specific antibody and a second segment encoding at least the transmembrane and cytoplasmic domains of an immune cell-trig-gering molecule such as subunits of either a T cell receptor, a T cell receptor-CD3 complex, a Fc receptor or an IL-2 receptor. Al-so disclosed is a method of treatment of a tumor using lymphocyte cells transformed with expression vectors containing the chi-meric genes.
