ABSTRACT A chimney cap has a roof, a screen beneath said roof and legs extending downward beyond said screen when the cap is in an upward position. Preferably, there are four legs on each cap and the legs are bendable and sufficiently resilient so that said cap can be installed by forcing it downward on a flue. In this position, the legs exert sufficient outward pressure against interior walls of said flue to retain said cap on said flue. The screen occupies a space between the roof and an upper edge of said flue. The cap is removable by exerting an upward force on said cap so that the legs will slide relative to the interior walls of said flue. Thus, the cap can be readily installed on or removed from the flue without the use of tools.
