ABSTRACT: A chimney turncap is provided with interior lower drains for guiding condensed water to a collector tray located in the warm zone of the chimney top, whereby the water disappears by evaporation. The hood portion is a semitubular element having a vane placed so as to make the hood assume a position transverse- ly to the wind, whereby the smoke leaves the hood cross- wise through the opposite open ends thereof; in this manner the space underneath the hood member is shielded from the direct influence of the wind, such that suffi- cient heat can be retained for said evaporation. For the same purpose the hood even acts as a reflector for heat radiation from the chimney.
