ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A burner unit for chips such as wood chips or sawdust, includes a container for the chips, through which a screw conveyor extends to the inlet of a motor-driven fan to which the screw conveyor is connected to be rotated therewith. Air is conducted through the interior of the screw conveyor to the fan inlet. A first throttle for controlling the supply of air into the screw conveyor and a second throttle for controlling the supply of chips to the fan inlet are commonly controlled by a regulating rod which extends through the screw conveyor. The outlet from the fan leads to a cyclone burner where the chips are burnt.
