A cholesterol level depressant containing a non-cross-linking anion exchange resin having a structural unit represented by general formula (I) as the main ingredient, wherein R1 represents benzyl or C1-C20 alkyl; R2 and R3 may be the same or different from each other and each represents C1-4 alkyl; R4 represents hydrogen or lower alkyl; X represents a physiologically acceptable counter ion; n is 1 to 3; and p represents an average degree of polymerization of 10 to 10,000.
