A crystal of chondroitin AC lyase derived from bacteria of the Arthrobacter genus, which belongs to monosymmetrical space group P21, substantially having unit lattice constants of a=57.6 ú, b=85.5 ú, c=80.5 ú and .beta.=106.9~ and has one molecule in each asymmetrical unit. There is further provided a protein having the activity of Chondroitin AC lyase and including an amino acid sequence: Asn-Trp-Trp-(Xaa)7-Arg-(Xaa)34-Gln-(Xaa)4-Arg-(Xaa)8-Asn- (Xaa)49-His-(Xaa)8-Tyr-(Xaa)53-Arg-(Xaa)3-Arg-(Xaa)2-(Asn or Asp)-(Xaa)106-Asn- (Xaa)54-Trp in which Xaa represents an arbitrary amino acid residue, and numerals mean the number of residues.
L'invention concerne un cristal de chondroitine AC lyase dérivé de bactéries du genre Arthrobacter, lequel appartient au groupe P2¿1? d'espace monosymétrique, présentant sensiblement des constantes de réseau unitaire de a=57.6 .ANG., b=85.5 .ANG., c=80.5 .ANG. et .beta. = 106.9· et il présente une molécule dans chaque unité asymétrique.
