A concentrated aqueous solution containing: (A) a component of dissolved phosphate ions; (B) a component of dissolved hexavalent chromium; (C) a component of dissolved anions selected from the group consisting of BF4-, AlF6 -3, SiF6 -2, TiF6 -2, FeF6 -3, SnF6 -2, ZrF6 -2, and HfF6 -2; and (D) a component of free fluoride ions; and, optionally and preferably, (E) a component of dissolved trivalent chromium; and, optionally, one or more of: (F) a component of dissolved organic substances produced by reducing some hexavalent chromium initially added to trivalent chromium; (G) a component of dissolved, stably suspended, or both dissolved and stably suspended film forming polymer molecules; and (H) a component of dissolved, stably suspended, or both dissolved and stably suspended substances selected from the group consisting of silica and silicates is more resistant to development of precipitates during extended storage than similar compositions without the free fluoride component, and upon dilution makes at least equally satisfactory working compositions for forming a chromate conversion "passivating" coating on zinciferous surfaces.
Solution aqueuse concentrée contenant: (A) un constituant à base d'ions phosphate dissous; (B) un constituant à base de chrome hexavalent dissous; (C) un constituant à base d'anions dissous sélectionnés dans le groupe composé de BF4<->, AlF6<-3>, SiF6<-2>, TiF6<-2>, FeF6<-3>, SnF6<-2>, ZrF6<-2> et HfF6<-2>; et (D) un constituant à base d'ions fluorure libres; et, éventuellement et de préférence, (E) un constituant à base de chrome trivalent dissous; et, éventuellement, un ou plusieurs constituants parmi: (F) un constituant à base de substances organiques dissoutes produites par la réduction d'une certaine quantité de chrome hexavalent ajoutée initialement au chrome trivalent; (G) un constituant à base de molécules de polymère filmogène dissous et/ou en suspension stable; et (H) un constituant à base de substances dissoutes et/ou en suspension stable sélectionnées dans le groupe constitué de silice et de silicates. Cette solution présente une meilleure résistance au développement de précipités pendant un stockage prolongé par rapport à des compositions semblables ne comportant pas de constituant fluorure libre, et, lors de sa dilution, elle forme des compositions de traitement au moins aussi satisfaisantes pour créer un revêtement de "passivation" de conversion de chromate sur des surfaces zincifères.
