A coating system for applying a chromophore coating to surfaces comprises a liquid ground coat as the first component and a second component which includes at least one pigment preparation in solid form. In order to improve the mixing behavior, especially for smaller quantities of the coating mass, the pigment preparation is portioned and can be dissolved in the ground coat. The portion of the pigment preparation is adjusted based on a predetermined quantity of the liquid ground coat.
