ABSTRACT Apparatus including a circuit arrangement for use in detecting grounds in a static converter having three a-c leads wherein the circuit arrangement comprises three voltage transformers having primary windings whose first ends are connected, respectively, to the a-c leads of the static converter and whose second ends are connected together to form an artificial neutral point. The circuit arrangement further includes a high resistance resistor connected between the neutral point and ground and a current-measuring means for measuring the current flowing in the resistor and generating an alarm signal in the event such current indicates a ground in the converter.
