PHN. 9816 22 ABSTRACT: The invention describes a semiconductor switch- ing device for transferring a signal charge Qs from a first capacitor Cs to a second capacitor Cd. In order to achieve a transfer rate high enough to perform the transfer within a well determined period T, means are provided for periodi- cally transferring back a fixed quantity of transferred charge into Cs. The frequency and the amount of charge of said back-transfer are chosen such that within the period T an equilibrium is reached in which charge transferred from Cs per unit of time is substantially equal to the charge transferred from Cs in the same unit of time. The invention may be used, in particular, in a camera wherein within the line flyback time an optionally generated signal has to be transferred from a sensor into read-out means.
