ABSTRACT A circuit arrangement controls a bistable relay in monostable fashion by the application and removal, respectively, of an excitation voltage. A series circuit has terminals for connection across the excitation voltage includes a coil of the relay, a capacitor and a first unidirectional switching transistor. A second switching transistor complementary to the first transistor is connected in parallel with the series-connected relay coil and capacitor. A Schmitt trigger is connected across the series circuit terminals and has a reference voltage derived from the excitation voltage. The control electrodes of both the switching transistors are connected to the collector of an output transistor of the Schmitt trigger. A feedback circuit consisting of a diode poled reversely with respect to the excitation voltage is connected across the first switching transistor for discharging the capacitor when the first switching transistor turns off. Alternatively the feedback circuit can consist of a transistor having its emitter and collector bridging the series-connected coil relay and capacitor and its base connected to the positive one of the terminals through at least one reversely poled diode.
