This invention concerns a process for failure protection of a circuit breaker equipped with contacts that can move from the closed position to the open position and vice versa, equipped with a protective device comprising a fault detection device that activates an opening electromagnetic coil that actuates a device for moving the circuit breaker contacts; the contacts that show the position of a control device are flipped as soon as the circuit breaker contacts move. According to the invention, when a fault is detected, a time delay (7) is generated after the signalling contacts flip; at the end of the time delay, the system checks whether the fault current has been cancelled, and if it has not, an alarm is generated.

L'invention concerne un procédé de protection de défaillance d'un disjoncteur pourvu de contacts pouvant se déplacer d'une position de fermeture à une position d'ouverture et inversement et équipé d'un dispositif de protection comportant un dispositif de détection d'un défaut entraînant la mise en fonction d'une bobine électromagnétique d'ouverture actionnant un dispositif de manoeuvre des contacts du disjoncteur, des contacts de signalisation de position d'un dispositif de contrôle étant basculés dès le déplacement des contacts du disjoncteur. Selon l'invention, en cas de détection d'un défaut, une temporisation (7) est générée après basculement des contacts de signalisation, à la fin de laquelle il est vérifié si le courant de défaut est annulé et s'il ne l'est pas, une alarme est générée.
