ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A circuit breaker comprising a cylindrical fixed contact, a cylindrical movable contact and a magnetic field producing means which renders the arc current spiral when created in a space between the fixed and movable contacts in the open-contact state, wherein the magnetic field producing means produces the magnetic field having a component which traverses the inter- contacts space in the direction perpendicular to the axis of the space.
