Abstract CIRCUIT BREAKER WITH SOLID-STATE TRIP UNIT WITH SAMPLING AND LATCHING AT THE LAST SIGNAL PEAK Microprocessor-based digital solid-state trip unit (48) for pro- cessing digital signals derived from analog signals supplied by current sensors (16). In order to reduce the error on measure- ment of the peak value of the signals due to signal sampling, the microprocessor (48) processes a signal latched at the last peak. A countdown determines the latching time to include two or three peak values. The trip unit is applicable to discriminating circuit breakers having a small difference between tripping time and non-tripping time. Refer to figure 1.
