- 1 - Abstract of the Disclosure For use in a signalling system or an A.M. transmitter, a circuit for imposing a d.c. level on an a.c. signal, to produce a composite signal which is of constant polarity with respect to a reference potential, includes a rectifier arrangement such as a voltage doubler for rectifying the a.c. signal and charging a capacitor in dependence upon the magnitude of the a.c. signal. A d.c. level derived from the voltage to which the capacitor is charged, possibly supplemented by a constant d.c. level, is added to the a.c. signal and the resultant signal is amplified by a direct- couplied amplifier, to drive loudspeakers of the signalling system or a final r.f. stage of the transmitter.
