2134976 9422260 PCTABS00033 A circuit and associated method for a radiotelephone which parses together sets of sequences of digits to form a telephonic identification code. Telephonic identification codes are stored in memory elements (506) and the present location of the telephonic apparatus is also stored in a memory element. A user of the radiotelephone desiring to effectuate a communication link with other telephonic apparatus inputs to the circuit portions of a telephonic identification code associated with the other telephonic apparatus. The circuit compares (518) the portion input by the user with stored telephonic identification codes. A stored telephonic identification code having similar digits is identified, and a new telephonic identification code is parsed together (524), if necessary, from the stored telephonic identification code based upon the present location of the radiotelephone.
