A circuit interrupter including separable main contacts, an operating mechanism interconnected with the contacts, and a housing in which the contacts and the operating mechanism are disposed. The housing includes outer sidewalls and a bottom. Support members are positioned on the bottom of the housing and extend along and beneath the sidewalls. The housing also includes a cover positioned on top of a base, the cover including first contact surfaces for contacting and mating with second contact surfaces of the base. The cover also includes a contact region. The operating mechanism includes a support member that is situated within the base and which has an upper surface with a raised region. The raised region is positioned to make contact with and pierce into the contact region before the first contact surfaces fully mate with the second contact surfaces.
L'invention concerne un interrupteur comprenant des contacts principaux séparables, un mécanisme de commande interconnecté avec les contacts, et un logement dans lequel les contacts et le mécanisme de commande sont disposés. Le logement comprend des parois latérales et un fond. Les éléments de support sont positionnés sur le fond du logement et s'étendent le long et sous les parois latérales. Le logement comprend également un couvercle positionné sur la base, ledit couvercle comprenant des premières surfaces de contact servant à mettre en contact et à relier celles-ci avec les deuxièmes surfaces de contact de la base. Le couvercle comprend également une région de contact. Le mécanisme de commande comprend un élément de support situé dans la base et possédant une surface supérieure présentant une région en relief. La région en relief est positionnée afin de créer un contact et de s'assembler avec la région de contact avant que les premières surfaces de contact ne s'assemblent complètement avec les deuxièmes surfaces de contact.
