A circuit interrupter including a housing, separable main contacts disposed in the housing, and an operating mechanism disposed in the housing and interconnected with the contacts. The operating mechanism includes a handle having a base, the base including a top surface with grooves extending along the longitudinal edges thereof. The operating mechanism further includes a slider at least partially overlapping the top surface of the base and contacting the housing causing a deflection of the slider into the grooves. The base also includes a first side, a second side, and a top curvilinear surface. The first side has a first end portion, and the second side having a second end portion that is truncated in comparison to the first end portion.
