ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A signal reproducing circuit system for reproducing a signal read out from a moving record carrier, such as a rotatable disc, including an automatic gain control circuit loop using a conventional gain control amplifier and a variable gain amplifier provided with a variable gain-frequency characteristic which is supplied with a gain control signal generated in the automatic gain control circuit loop to be controlled thereby the gain-frequency characteristic so as to compensate for variations in the level of the read out signal introduced due to the shift of a reading out position on the carrier. ,.
